NIVRITI has its origin rooted in a very simple but at the same time a very powerful belief that fashion is at its best when it is personal.
Nivriti Ganeriwala, the founder of the label, takes us on a journey that embodies and embraces creativity, individualism, and the excellence of nature. A kid in Kolkata, Nivriti was an intelligent and inquisitive student with a talent for design. In 2008, after finishing her Higher Secondary schooling from La Martiniere for Girls, Kolkata, she not only gained a top position in studies and participation in the school activities, but also got the title of House Vice Captain.
Her love for the creative arts was the main reason for her pursuing Fashion Design from NIFT and graduating in 2012. At the start of her career, she was involved with fashion brands in Kolkata and Mumbai, where she got practical knowledge of design, fit, and craftsmanship. Still, outside the studio, she lit her creativity by creating costumes for friends and family; pieces that were very personal and made with love.
Nivriti saw her true calling during this period: making designs for the direct consumer. She was also supported by her family and the consistent appreciation she received; hence, she started her entrepreneurial journey, doing it step by step, with the fabrics from a cupboard at home and the tailoring completely outsourced.
The year 2016 saw NIVRITI coming up as a brand, along with its own studio, the studio that was a future dream turned into a living fashion label.
NIVRITI is now recognized for its Western and Indo-Western clothing line, which provides silhouettes that perfectly harmonize modernity and classicism. Each garment is made with care for detail, comfort, and uniqueness.
For Nivriti, fashion is not just limited to clothes, it’s also about comprehending and narrating women’s stories and their self-assurance. Her approach to design revolves around facilitating women’s recognition of the forms, shades, and trends that not only amplify their appearance but also their emotions.
At NIVRITI, the purpose of clothing is to strengthen, because if a woman is sure of herself in her clothes, it will automatically turn into her typical way of dressing.
